How does the license work?

You pay once and keep it. No renewals, no subscriptions. Your license activates on the number of Macs you bought it for, and you can move it to another Mac whenever you want.

I bought Picmal and now I need more Macs. Can I upgrade?

Yes, and you only pay the difference. Going from 1 Mac to 2 is $10, 2 to 5 is $50, 5 to 10 is $60, and every other jump works the same way. Enter your license key here and the same key covers more Macs. The offer never expires, so starting small is never the wrong call.

What happens if I get a new Mac?

Open Picmal on your old Mac, go to Picmal → Register license to deactivate, then activate on the new one. Takes about ten seconds.

How does Picmal convert HEIC to JPG?

Drag your HEIC photos in from Finder or Photos, choose JPG as the output format, and click Convert. One photo or a whole folder at once, and it all happens on your Mac. If you want the free built-in ways too, the guide on how to convert HEIC to JPG on Mac walks through all six.

What is HEIC and why do I need to convert it?

HEIC is Apple's image format used by iPhones since iOS 11. While it offers better compression than JPG, many websites, Windows PCs, and older apps can't open HEIC files. Converting to JPG or PNG makes them universally compatible.

What formats can I convert HEIC to?

Picmal converts HEIC to JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF and PDF, plus most other image formats. PDF works two ways: convert gives you one PDF per photo, and the Images to PDF tool combines a whole selection into a single multi-page document.

Can I batch convert all my iPhone photos at once?

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG uses lossy compression, so there's a slight quality reduction. Picmal lets you adjust the quality slider. At 90%+ quality, the difference is imperceptible.

Is this different from Preview's export feature?

Preview can convert one file at a time. Picmal handles batch conversion of hundreds of files, offers more output formats, and lets you fine-tune quality settings.

Do my photos leave my Mac?
